Tips for the Telephone Interview

Many companies use phone interviews as an initial employment screening. Since they are generally brief, phone interviews save company time. Many preliminary and some final interviews are held over the phone. You will be asked to participate in 20 to 30 minutes phone interviews with either one person or several people on other hand of the line. 

The Fallowing are the preparing for the  phone interview:

1) Treat the phone interview seriously, just as you would a face-to-face interview:

This means be ready. Be sure to research the company,study the job description
and participate your responses to anticipated questions just as you would for any other interview. You can keep all of your employer research materials within easy reach of the phone .

2) Have your resume and cover letter in front of you:

Some time interviewer be certainly asked about some information that appears on the documents such as resume. You might also want to have in front of you any supporting materials that relate to information to your resume and cover letter like documents you have written for various projects.

3) Do some research before the interview:

You should double check the job description you're interviewing for. The best part about doing this research is it allows you to tailor your answers when you face interview questions over the phone. They are looking for set of knowledge,skills and abilities. So, do some research before attend the interview.



4) Be a Good Listener:

You should keep in mind that you must be a good listener. Avoid interrupting and the let the recruiter complete his question before you respond. Ask for clarification if you could not receive properly. Talk but don't dominate the conversation. Answer the questions properly but don't turn it into a one sided lecture.Keep your answers honest,thoughtful and reflective.Make sure you breath and clearly.Keep a pencil and paper near by you so you can write down questions and save them for the end. Most important thing is smile!!! they might not able to see it,but your tone of voice will reflect it.


5) Make a cheat sheet:

The interview means not only answering the questions,but asking the right ones as well.The right questions not only help you get information you might need to make an informed decision regarding the job,but it also helps confirm your job qualifications as the ideal candidate for the position. Don't hesitate to ask for more details about the position and the company. Make sure you prepare your own list of questions before you start and at the same time your questions must be thoughtful and purpose.

6) Ask about your next step:

Ask about the the next step in the interview process as well as hiring timetable. This represents you are very must interested for this position.

7) After the the Interview:

You should remember few things after the interview, take notes about how you answered and what you were asked.Finally say "Thank You" at the end of the conversation.
